GRANT PROGRAM
Through a competitive but simple grant process, AHP provides start-up funding to schools, teachers, and cooperating museums and/or libraries to enable them to conduct oral histories and then translate these interviews into classroom/or public programs. These “Gifts of Scholarship,” are archived locally, within the State, and in the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.

AHP grants are custom-tailored to each school’s needs. Funds are available to pay the Teacher Team Leaders, and for project related expenses such as buying or renting equipment, building exhibits, designing websites, printing books, holding public meetings, bringing in speakers and consultants, field trips, technical assistance, and publicizing events. Grant amounts range from $500 - $5,000.

The amount of money given is determined by AHP as we analyze your project. The process starts with your perusal of our website, the submission of your electronic Intent To Apply form, consultation with the State Coordinator, and a final contract. The AHP State Coordinator is available via telephone or on-site to help you design your project, write your Intent, and develop a contract.

GRANT PROCESS
The grant process begins with the Intent To Apply form you submit electronically from this AHP web site. Intent forms received by December 31, 2006 receive priority. You may submit an Intent To Apply form at any time and we will work to get it into the next funding cycle. Your Intent To Apply form will start the process. The State Coordinator will then contact you and help you define your project and write the grant.

GRANT APPLICATION
Grant applications are sent only to schools that have gone through the Intent To Apply process. Grant applications are not available on-line. Forms are mailed. AHP advises grant recipients and helps prepare the grant application.
